OUR PEOPLE WHO SEW
NWF products are made under very comfortable conditions. Over the years we have grown into a thriving cottage industry. Most of our sewers have young children at home or in school and want to be there for them. Some of them are semi-retired. All of them are totally in control of their working conditions and hours. The sewers who started with us in the beginning are still with us. Nights in White Flannel would not be where it is today without them.

OUR CUSTOMERS
We have loyal customers from all across Canada, the USA and many countries overseas. They're wearing our cozy pajamas: made from the same fabric as IBEX sheets which have been manufactured and sold in Canada since 1908. Generations of Canadians have been putting the familiar striped blankets on their beds at the first sign of autumn.

OUR COZY PRODUCTS
We begin with thick flannel that has been napped on both sides so the pajamas are as nice to wear as they are to cuddle. The well-loved stripes are colour-fast. They will not fade or run. All of the other components are carefully chosen: the zippers are Canadian-made YKK; the buttons are real wood; and the ribbing is a long-lasting cotton-Lycra blend. If you take a look at the seams you will see that we never use the chain stitch that has become the hallmark of factory-made garments. The chain stitch is very quick to do…and undo. Once a thread is broken the seam quickly unravels. Instead we use an old-fashioned lock-stitch and then finish the seams by serging the edges. This takes more than twice the time of chain-stitching but we think it's worth it!

All of our products are meant to be machine washed and dried at high temperatures. IBEX blankets are the bedding of choice for hospitals in Canada because they are soft, warm and can endure industrial washing and drying. The shrinkage of our fabrics is taken into consideration: items are either pre-shrunk or over-cut to allow for shrinkage. Even our slippers are meant to be machine washed and dried regularly. We have a detailed size chart to make choosing the right size easier.

Whenever garments are made there are inevitable off-cuts. Rather than send these scraps to landfill sites, we place them in a wooden bin in our workshop and offer them to visitors for free. From this bin our cozy flannel scraps have found their way around the world, mostly in the form of quilts and comforters. Check our Night News for the latest projects. Let us know if you have any ideas!

CHARITY
Nights in White Flannel pajamas are often donated to raise money for charitable causes, or given away to people in need. You will find them in silent auctions, women's shelters, orphanages in Russia and Africa and even a remote village in the mountains of Nepal.

REGULATIONS ON CHILDREN'S SLEEPWEAR
There are government laws concerning the manufacturing of sleepwear. Several designs, including nightgowns, robes and button-top pajamas, cannot be made out of flammable fabric. Sleepers and polo pajamas are allowed, but with several design restrictions. All of our sleepwear conforms to Canadian government standards. Due to regulations however, we are not allowed to sell children's sleepwear to our customers in the USA.
